The Art of FruGAL Living {The Teddy Bear Picnic Turtorial}

This event was inspired by one of my favorite books, Teddy Bears' Picnic by Jimmy Kennedy.

When I was going to school to become a Literacy Specialist I dreamt of sharing this book and experience with my own kiddos one day! 

Come to find out, the book is out of print and is not readily available at our public library.

That being said, I did find it in a number of places on line including Borders & Amazon.  Just give yourself a few days to round up the book if you decide to use it.

Since I did not know that it would be so difficult to find we went with a poem and it was still fabulous! 

For our event we choose Loyalty Park in Sumner.

The trees there are old and fantastic!

Five Little Bears

One little bear

Wondering what to do

Along came another

Then there were two!

Two little bears

Climbing up a tree

Along came another

Then there were three!

Three little bears

Ate an apple core

Along came another

Then there were four!

Four little honey bears

Found honey in a hive

Each child had a bag of 5 gummy bears and we pulled out one as we read this poem.

At the end of the poem everyone at their gummies and got to pick a sticker.

What a magical afternoon!

The whole event only cost $3 for the stickers and gummy bears.
